Choosing the Right Snooker or Pool Balls

Start with the game you play and the ball size your table is designed to use. Table length alone does not tell you which set to buy.

Snooker sets contain red balls, colours and a white cue ball. Standard full-size snooker balls are 2 1/16" in diameter, approximately 52.4mm, although some smaller tables use different sizes.

English pool commonly uses 2" object balls, approximately 50.8mm, in red-and-yellow or numbered sets. Some tables require a smaller cue ball, particularly where a coin-operated return system is fitted.

American pool generally uses 2 1/4" balls, approximately 57.2mm, with numbered object balls and a matching-size cue ball.

Check your existing ball diameter and your table’s requirements before choosing a replacement set. If you are changing game formats, confirm compatibility with the table and its pockets first.

      Aramith and Dynaspheres Ball Sets

Our range includes Aramith and Dynaspheres sets across several games and price points.

The Snooker Shop is an official Australian distributor for Dynaspheres. Learn more about the range on our Dynaspheres Australia page, or browse our Aramith collection.

When comparing sets, check their material, size, included balls and intended use. Product specifications provide a more useful comparison than colour or appearance alone.

Training and Caring for Your Balls

Training balls can help you practise cue-ball contact and observe spin. Choose a training ball that suits your game and ball size.

Regular care helps keep your set clean and ready for play. Use ball cleaning products intended for cue-sport balls and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Avoid household abrasives or unsuitable cleaners.
